Autel MS908P Update Guide:

1. Sign up for the tool

To sign up for an Autel ID, please go to www.autel.com.

Then, use your Autel ID and password to sign in to our site at http://pro.auteltech.com/ to register your tool.

Note: When you register the tool on our website, please make sure that the serial number and password you enter are correct.

You can double-check the serial number and register password by pressing Setup->About on the tool itself. If you only have the S/N, you can check the register password by calling our technical support.

Step 2:Update via Computer:

1. Use your Autel ID and password to log in to our website, and then go to your account to download the latest PC Suite for your tool.

Install the PC Suite on a Windows computer that can connect to the Internet. Make sure the system health is good.

3. Use an SD card reader to connect the SD card to a USB port on the computer. Run the PC Suit and enter your Autel ID and password to sign in to our system. If you accidentally forget your password, you can always click [Forget Password?] to go to our website and change it.

4. Wait until the Update window appears. If more than one SD card is connected to the PC, you can use the pull-down menu in the right corner to choose the right one. And you can download the software updates by clicking the Install button.

5.To make sure the scan tool works well, you should download and install all of the software updates.

6.When you're done downloading all the software, put the SD card back into the tool, and then you can use the new software.

AUTEL MS908P MAXISYS Pro itself has already supported ECU programming function for BENZ and BMW cars. If you need support for more car models, you must use the J2534 device and OEM software to implement this function. J2534 DEVICE can not only use with AUTEL MAXISYS Pro but also can work on other OEM software.



Using the extra OEM software, the MaxiFlash Pro can also be used as a Pass-Thru diagnostics tool. This lets users read and clear Full Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and data log PIDS, collect sensor data and data log generic OBDII data, etc.

DTC & FFD

When this function is chosen, a list of Stored Codes and Pending Codes is shown on the screen. When you can look at the Freeze Frame data for some DTCs, a snowflake button will show up to the right of the DTC item. You can use the Erase Codes function by tapping the button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Codes Saved

The current DTCs from the car's ECM that have to do with emissions are stored. The priority of OBDII/EOBD codes is based on how bad the emissions are, with higher priority codes overwriting lower priority codes. The MIL will be on and the way the code is erased depends on how important it is. Different manufacturers use different ways to rank codes, so you can expect differences between makes.

Pending Codes

These are codes that could have set during the last drive cycle, but they need to set on two or more consecutive drive cycles. The goal of this service is to help the service technician after he or she has fixed a vehicle and cleared it.

By giving test results after a single driving cycle, a car can give diagnostic information.

• a) The DTC for a failed test during the driving cycle is sent to the computer. If the pending fault doesn't happen again within 40 to 80 warm-up cycles, the fault is automatically erased from memory.
• b) The test results that this service gives do not always mean that a system or part is broken. If the test results show another failure after more driving, a DTC is set to show that a part or system is broken, and the MIL comes on.

Freeze Frame

Most of the time, the last DTC is stored as the last frame.

Some DTCs are more important than others because they have a bigger effect on a car's emissions. In this case, the freeze frame records are kept for the DTC with the highest priority. Freeze frame data contains a "snapshot" of the values of important parameters at the time the DTC is set.

Erase Codes

This option is used to clear all DTCs, freeze frame data, and manufacturer-specific enhanced data related to emissions from the ECM of the vehicle. It also resets the I/M Readiness Monitor Status for all vehicle monitors to "Not Ready" or "Not Complete."

To keep data from being lost by accident when the clear codes option is chosen, a confirmation screen appears. On the confirmation screen, choose Yes to keep going or No to leave.

Ready for I/M

With this function, you can check to see if the monitoring system is ready to go. It is a great feature to use before having a car checked to make sure it meets a state's emissions program. When you choose I/M Readiness, a submenu pops up with two options:

Since DTCs Cleared–shows the status of monitors since the last time DTCs were cleared.

This Driving Cycle shows how the monitors have been working since the start of the current drive cycle.

Live Data

This function shows the PID data coming from the ECU in real time.

Data that is shown includes analog inputs and outputs, digital inputs and outputs, and information about the status of the system that is sent over the vehicle data stream.

O2 Sensor Monitor

With this option, you can get the most recent O2 sensor monitor test results from the vehicle's onboard computer and look at them.

The O2 Sensor Monitor Test function is not available on cars that talk to each other through a controller area network (CAN). For the results of O2 Sensor Monitor tests on CAN-equipped cars, see On-Board Monitor.

Monitors on board

With this option, you can see how the On-Board Monitor tests went. The tests are helpful after a repair or after the memory in a car's control module has been cleared.

Component Test

This service makes it possible for the ECM to be controlled in both directions, so that the diagnostic tool can send control commands to the ECM to make the vehicle systems work. This function can be used to see how well the ECM follows a command.

Details about a vehicle

The option shows the test vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN), calibration identification, and calibration verification number (CVN), among other things.

Vehicle Status: This item is used to check the current state of the car, including the communication protocols of OBD II modules and the codes that were retrieved.

It may also show the status of the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and other information.

Service:

The Service section is designed to make it easy for you to get to the vehicle's systems for scheduled service and maintenance.

A typical service operation screen is made up of a series of executive commands that are chosen from a menu. By following the instructions on the screen to choose the right execution options, enter the right values or data, and take the right steps, the system will guide you through the whole performance for different service operations.

Some of the most common service functions are:

• DPF Regeneration Service

This part talks about the main things that vehicle service does:

Service to Change Oil

This function lets you reset the Engine Oil Life system, which figures out when the best time to change the oil is based on how the car is driven and the weather. Every time the oil is changed, the Oil Life Reminder must be reset so the system can figure out when the next oil change is due.

Service for the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPMS)

This feature lets you quickly look up the tire sensor IDs from the vehicle's ECU, as well as program and reset the TPMS after replacing the tire sensors.

Service for the Electric Parking Brake (EPB)

This function can be used in many ways to keep the electronic braking system working well and safely.

Some of the uses are turning off and on the brake control system, helping to control the brake fluid, opening and closing the brake pads, setting the brakes after replacing the disc or pads, etc.

Services from ABS/SRS

This function lets you run tests in both directions to see how well the Anti-lock Braking System and the Supplemental Restraint System are working. These tests include Automated Bleeding, Pump Motor Test, and checking Module information, among others.

Service for the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS)

This service function lets you calibrate the Steering Angle Sensor. This stores the current position of the steering wheel as the straight-ahead position in the EEPROM of the steering angle sensor. When the calibration is finished successfully, the steering angle sensor fault memory is automatically erased.

DPF Regeneration Service

The Diesel Particulate Filter service function does the regeneration procedure, which is the DPF cleaning operation. The particulate matter caught in the DPF filter is burned over and over again to clear the blockage.

If the DPF light on your car comes on and you successfully finish a DPF regeneration cycle, the DPF light will turn off on its own.

Let me just say that I had no trouble registering this online at Autel, and I got the serial number and password right from the machine's screen, as they appear online. After I signed up, I also put in the CD that was given to me, which I did without any problems. Then I bought a 32GB Ultra SD card, which is the maximum, not that it matters.

I clicked "install all updates" on the card, and everything worked. Then I took the 8GB card out of the computer and updated it as a backup. I'm also going to order one more 32GB to keep in the safe. No problems at all.

My serial number started with a Q, which means it was made in the USA. My wifi also works fine.

I have a lot of scanners, but with the Autel, I can scan more cars and look at more features. I'm glad I made the purchase. This scanner is cheap, so I would recommend it to anyone. has been great for my store.

Best value for the money I'm a master technician who has worked as a professional tech for ten years. For the price, this scanner does more than any of its competitors and costs less than half as much. It makes me feel bad about my snap-on scanner. It works on almost every make and model, and you can use it to program keys, reset adaptation and service lights, look at live data, run tests, and more.

We run a small used car lot, and this scanner has been more than enough for us. It can pull codes from different modules, show live data, and talk to almost any make or model. If there's one thing people don't like about it, it's that it doesn't have an internal battery, so it has to be plugged in all the time and can't be carried around.

New information comes in all the time, which is another plus. Some words are spelled wrong, but other than that, it's been working fine.
